Pathways of the heart.

چکیده
Disease heterogeneity presents a formidable challenge for clinical medicine. We are unlikely to develop successful, targeted treatments unless diagnostic schemes begin to reflect the biological complexity underlying superficially similar disease phenotypes. To address heterogeneity, there is an increasing recognition that realistic disease models need to be built on a foundation of quantitative molecular information.1 Such a “systems medicine” approach should ultimately allow classification into biologically more homogeneous groups, with similar prognosis and treatment response.

Metformin Protects Against Radiation-Induced Heart Injury and Attenuates the Up-regulation of Dual Oxidase Genes Following Rat’s Chest Irradiation
Radiation-induced heart toxicity is one of the serious side effects after a radiation disaster or radiotherapy for patients with chest cancers, leading to a reduction in the quality of life of the patients. Evidence has shown that infiltration of inflammatory cells plays a key role in the development of functional damages to the heart via chronic up-regulation of some pro-fibrotic and pro-infl...
متن کاملتأثیر ۱۲ هفته تمرین مقاومتی بر بیان ژن RAGE VCAM, ICAM, در قلب رتهای دیابتی شده با STZ
Background: Cardiomyopathy is a side effect caused by diabetes. Prolonged hyperglycemia gives rise to an increase in the expression of the receiver gene RAGE subsequently triggering pathogenesis cardiac signaling pathways in the heart of rats with type II diabetes. The present paper aims to examine how a 12 week Resistance training on gene expressions RAGE, ICAM, VCAM in the heart of diabetic r...
متن کاملPreconditioning effects of oxytocin in reducing cardiac arrhythmias in a rat heart regional ischemia-reperfusion model
Abstract Introduction: Occurrence of cardiac arrhythmias and myocardial infarction are two main deleterious events that are caused by ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injury in the heart. Cardiac preconditioning represents the most potent method of rescuing heart tissue from undergoing irreversible ischemic damage. The aim of the present study was to evaluate oxytocin (OT) cardioprotective effect...
متن کاملApoptosis: from Signalling Pathways to Therapeutic Tools
Apoptosis or programmed cell death is a gene regulated phenomenon which is important in both physiological and pathological conditions. It is characterized by distinct morphological features including chromatin condensation, cell and nuclear shrinkage, membrane blebbing and oligonucleosomal DNA fragmentation. Although, two major apoptotic pathways including 1) the death receptor (extrinsic) and...
متن کاملEffect of pre-treatment with oxytocin on cardiac enzymes in regional ischemiareperfusion injury induced in the rat heart
Introduction: Cardiac preconditioning represents the most potent and consistently reproducible method of rescuing heart tissue from undergoing irreversible ischemic damage. The aim of the present study was to evaluate oxytocin (OT) induced cardioprotection and its signaling pathways on lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and creatine kinase-MB isoenzyme (CK-MB) in the anesthetized rats. Methods: Ei...
متن کاملHistological study of the atrioventricular node and bundle in the heart of ovine fetus
This study was conducted on the atrioventricular node (AVN) and atrioventricular bundle (AVB) of fivefour-month-old ovine fetuses. The histological structure of these components was studied by routinehistological techniques and use of specific staining methods. The AVN was caudally located adjacent to theroot of the aorta. It was almost spherical in shape and consisted of twisty cells. The node...
